Hiram Abiff 波阿斯 was the first vice president 和 second president of SMU. He was born in Murray, Kentucky on December 18, 1866. Hiram 波阿斯 graduated from Southwestern University with a bachelor’s degree in 1893 和 a master’s degree in 1894 和 was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. Hiram 波阿斯 served as SMU’s president until 1922 和 later retired in 1938.

Caroline Browne 波阿斯 was married to Hiram Abiff 波阿斯 和 considered one of the "first ladies" of SMU after her husb和 became the second president. Dr. 威廉年代. Tate is quoted as saying that Caroline 和 her husb和 had lives that were an example 和 an inspiration to the students of SMU. Hiram 波阿斯 was quoted at the dedication for 波阿斯 Hall as giving credit to Caroline 波阿斯 for his inspiration 和 success. 他们结婚68年.

波阿斯打破

波阿斯打破 happens every Sunday on the 波阿斯 patio, where Jack 和 普里西拉 Levison set up a table with a special treat or two. Everyone hangs out on the patio to enjoy snacks 和 catch up with friends. Even 波阿斯ies who have moved out come back for this sweet tradition! If you want to strike up a conversation with a 波阿斯ie, just ask them their favorite 波阿斯打破 snack!

Once a year we invite the entire campus to join us at a beautiful off-campus location for a formal dance. The 波阿斯 formal has a DJ, a photo booth, 和 desserts 和 is often cited as a favorite memory. We load up on a bus with our friends from other Commons 和 head out to a stellar Dallas location. 在过去, we have hosted our formal at the Dallas Arboretum with an incredible view of the Dallas skyline. It’s a great night to dress up 和 enjoy an evening with all of your friends.

星期三起床

星期三起床 is a weekly event hosted in the 波阿斯 Lobby. Students are welcome to chat 和 relax with each other every Wednesday morning while enjoying a variety of breakfast treats. 不能聊天? 随便拿 & 去吧，打个招呼. The 波阿斯 Beehive likes to stay connected.

Dr. 杰克·利维森(他/他/他的)

Faculty-in-Residence

杰克李维森 is a long way from his native Long Isl和, 所以他假装, 当他骑自行车的时候, that White Rock Lake is the Atlantic Ocean. He doesn’t have to pretend that he takes enormous pleasure in the company of his wife, 普里西拉, or that living tooth to jowl with students is an exciting venture he never could have imagined when he was a college freshman himself.
